Message from the PAC
Greetings Sidney Elementary Beehive!
As a mother of two children being raised in Sidney, we are lucky to call this part of the traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ people, our school, our community and our home. My name is Harninder (Hari) Jacquot and I am delighted to be part of the Sidney Elementary School PAC for this 2025/2026 school year.
Every Parental Advisory Committee (PAC) strives to be a respectful and collective voice for parents and caregivers at their school. Here at Sidney Elementary, our community of caregivers works together with teachers, administration, and the broader community to provide a fantastic school year inside and outside the classroom.
We do this by:
-
Hosting fun and inclusive community events
-
Fundraising to support classroom resources, field trips, and school initiatives
-
Partnering with staff to provide feedback on programs and goals
-
Supporting school traditions that make Sidney Elementary unique
-
Encouraging caregiver engagement and volunteering, which strengthens the whole hive
As a fellow parent/guardian of a Sidney Elementary student, your time and your voice are needed, appreciated, and always welcome. Whether you can commit a lot of time, a little time, or simply attend a meeting to learn more, your involvement matters.
Here are some examples of how you can get involved:
-
Morning Healthy Hive Help: Commit to a steady volunteer shift (for example, every Monday from 8:15 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.).
-
Monthly Engagement: Join our PAC meetings—just 1.5 hours a month to stay informed and vote on important topics like spending, events, and school initiatives. Meetings are held every second Tuesday from 6:30–7:30 p.m. in the Learning Commons.
-
Event Support: Contribute about 3 hours a month helping with event set-up and take-down, usually in the evening.
-
Bee Keeper: Represent your child’s class for class-supported initiatives such as Fun Lunch and Spring Fling.
-
Year-End Commitment: In June, we look to fill approximately 100 volunteer hours. Mark your calendars now to support our biggest fundraising month of the year!
Thank you in advance for your commitment to this wonderful school and community. This is how we create a buzz in our children to BEE kind, BEE engaged, and BEE leaders. It takes a hive!
